Cutting Technique & Safety

For a square cut, keep the disc plane at 90 degrees to the plate surface and aligned with the cut. Secure the workpiece and use the specified cutting guard, mounting flanges and appropriate PPE.

Do not twist, force or side-load the disc, and never use it for side grinding. Check the disc condition and its marked maximum RPM against the grinder before use. Follow the wheel and tool instructions.

Super Tsurugi Selection Questions (FAQ)

Can FUJI cutting discs be customized?

Yes. FUJI can adjust the abrasive and bond formulation to suit your material, equipment and cutting requirements. Share your current disc and the results you want to improve so we can recommend a specification for trial.

Can this 1mm disc cut 10mm carbon-steel plate?

Yes, FUJI's Indonesian shipyard test recorded a 50mm cut through 10mm-thick low-carbon steel plate in 30 seconds. This demonstrates that task under the test conditions; choose equipment with adequate cutting capacity and do not force the wheel.

Can one specification handle carbon steel, stainless steel and alloy steel?

Super Tsurugi can cut thin carbon steel, stainless steel and alloy steel. Material grade and thickness affect the best formulation; provide the exact alloy designation for application-specific selection. Keep discs used on carbon steel separate from those used on stainless steel. Request product-specific documentation if your job specifies contamination limits.

Is the 1mm wheel reinforced, and can I grind with its side?

It contains two reinforcing mesh layers, but it is a T41 cutting disc. Reinforcement does not make it suitable for side grinding. Keep the wheel aligned with the cut without twisting or lateral pressure.

How many discs should I order for a carton?

One carton contains 200 discs: 20 boxes of 10 discs each. State your carton quantity and destination when requesting current availability and delivery time.

Abrasive Wheel Selection & Technical Parameters Guide

Choosing the correct abrasive wheel is critical for both operational efficiency and JIS-compliant safety. Fuji Grinding Wheels are engineered with precise technical markings to ensure the perfect match for your specific material and machine requirements.

Understanding Fuji Markings (e.g., WA 36 P BF)

  • Abrasive Type (WA/A/AZ): Determines the suitability for material hardness (e.g., WA for hardened steel, AZ for heavy-duty alloys).
  • Grit Size (16 - 120): Indicates the coarseness. Lower numbers for rapid removal; higher numbers for precision finishing.
  • Hardness Grade (L - S): Defines the bond strength. Correct selection prevents premature wheel wear or surface glazing.
  • Bonding Agent (BF): High-grade Resinoid bond reinforced for high-speed safety and impact resistance.

💡 Expert Selection Tip

For professional export markets, always verify the Peripheral Speed (m/s) compatibility. Fuji wheels are designed to exceed JIS Burst Speed factors, but operating at the recommended R.P.M. ensures the longest tool life and cleanest cut.

Note: Mismatched grit or hardness can lead to excessive heat buildup, affecting the workpiece's structural integrity.

Fuji Abrasives Wheel Description of Marking

Global Maintenance Standard: To maintain the high safety factor of Fuji wheels, avoid exposure to excessive humidity and chemical solvents during storage. Proper care preserves the resinoid bond's strength, crucial for high-load industrial applications.

FUJI Industrial Quality & Safety Protocols

Fuji products are manufactured following strict Japanese standard process requirements. Every wheel is engineered to meet or exceed JIS (Japanese Industrial Standards), such as JIS R 6242 and B 4051. Our core engineering logic prioritizes maximum operator protection by maintaining safety factors and burst speed capabilities that often surpass the highest industry benchmarks.

Standard Region Safety Factor (Burst Multiplier) Safety Logic & Benchmark
FUJI (High Precision) > 2.0x Engineered to exceed JIS requirements for maximum reliability.
Japan (JIS R 6242) 2.0x Extreme Safety: A wheel rated at 80m/s must withstand a 160m/s burst test.
Europe (EN 12413) 1.73x Risk Balanced: Provides high safety redundancy for most industrial apps.
USA (ANSI B7.1) 1.5x Efficiency Focused: Relies on machine guarding and operational procedures.

⚠️ Essential Safety Cautions & Operational Integrity

  • 1. RPM Compliance: Never exceed the maximum R.P.M. specified on the wheel. Using the sides of the wheels for grinding is strictly prohibited, as it compromises the structural integrity of the abrasive bond.
  • 2. Mandatory Idling: Allow the tool to idle for one minute before beginning work. If a new wheel has been mounted, an idle run of three minutes is required to ensure dynamic stability.
  • 3. Workpiece Stability: All materials must be securely fastened. Improperly secured workpieces can lead to vibration, wheel binding, and unsafe kickback forces.
  • 4. Arbor Hole Integrity: Do not modify or enlarge the metal center of the arbor hole. A proper fit is critical; a mismatched arbor causes eccentric rotation and dangerous vibration levels.
  • 5. PPE Requirements: Industrial-grade face and eye protection are mandatory at all times. Ensure all protective gear meets local safety compliance standards.
  • 6. Guard Protection: Protection guards are designed to contain fragments in the unlikely event of a wheel failure. Never operate tools or machinery with guards removed.

Professional Export & Maintenance Insight

When deploying Fuji high-performance tools in overseas markets, ensure that the regional power grid frequency and voltage match the tool specifications. To maintain the superior burst speed safety of Fuji wheels, store abrasives in a dry, temperate environment. Humidity can degrade the resin bond, potentially lowering the wheel’s resistance to centrifugal forces.
